Question: Is it okay to join the Wazifa or the Friday Hadhra via video conferencing applications e.g. Zoom, WhatsApp, Skype etc. because of the lockdown restrictions due to the Coronavirus?

Answer:

Jazak ALLAH Khayr for asking. The question is the cure for ignorance.

As is commonly known, it is not valid to perform congregational prayers behind an Imam on TV, radio or video link or to make tawaf remotely via someone on the phone going around the Ka’ba or to perform Salat in congregation with people from different cities and countries from your home for example via Zoom, Skype, Google Meet, Whatsapp or Google Hangouts or any such software.

In the same way, it is not permitted to do the Wazifa or the Haylala in congregation with other people via video-conferencing. The Tidjani Shurufa in Ain Madhi (descendants of both the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and Sheikh Ahmed Tidjani, may ALLAH sanctify his precious secret) were saddened to hear that some Tidjani followers have adopted this practice. They strongly warned against the practice of performing the blessed wazifa and haylala in a group via video conferencing applications, stating that this is a deviation that has no basis other than excess ignorance.
